Union Point Downtown Development Authority and Better Hometown Program (UPDDA)

                 Mural of History of Union Point on Scott Street

The Union Point Downtown Development Authority (UPDDA), our non profit legal structure, and the Better Hometown (BHT), our nationally recognized Main Street designation, work as two organizations in one.

Staffed by one part-time employee, our organizations are committed to the economic development, historic preservation, and beautification of the Union Point downtown area.

Our purpose is to revitalize downtown economically and socially within the context of historic preservation by increasing financial viability and ensuring the success of local businesses.

This transformation started in 2006 with:
• the opening of an art gallery and a restaurant;
• the city funded historic building renovation;
• our historic theater is being renovated and converted to
  a community oriented cultural and entertainment center;
• the purchase of the historic Chipman-Union Textile Mill…

We would be glad to have you join us and be part of our town’s revitalization.
